NC, Maoist agree on 11 states, at odds over naming

KATHMANDU: Maoist and Nepali Congress leaders have agreed to federate the nation along 11 states while they remained at cross roads over the basis to name these states.

Exiting the meeting, NC Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel claimed that the parties were still at odds over the basis of federalism rather than the numbers. While the Congress has been supporting to adopt multiple basis of identity and capacity to name the states, Maoists have stood to its ground for unitary-ethnic identity federalism.

The meeting was attended by senior leaders from both parties.
