NC leaders smell conspiracy on CJ led government; wanr Maoist not to ploy against democracy
GORKHA: As the four major political parties are yet to find consensus on the Chief Justice led government, Nepali Congress leaders have started to criticize UCPN-Maoist for the current political crisis dogging the country.
Addressing a program in Gorkha on Saturday Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala has warned that UCPN-Maoist will be finished if they try to muddle with democracy. Stating that Ranas, Panchayat and Monarchy perished away after they tried to mess with democracy, Koirala warned that Maoist will be finished if they continue to mess with democracy.
Koirala accused the Maoist of trying to impose totalitarian in the country. Koirala also said that his party will never negotiate with the democratic norms and values. He however did not mention about why NC supported the Maoist proposal of forming the election government led by Chief Justice. Political analysts say that Koirala agreed to the Maoist proposal due to pressure exerted by foreigners despite majority of party leaders opposing the decision.
Speaking at the same program Central Committee member Gagan Thapa said that sitting chief justice cannot lead the election government until he resigns from his post.
He also added that proposal to form government under the chief justice was a conspiracy to put the NC in trap. He also added that political parties should search for a political leadership from among the leaders of the parties.
Thapa claimed that UCPN -Maoist was afraid for going to the election and making different excuses to avoid election at any cost.
