NC lawmakers urge President to resurrect CA
KATHMANDU: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has stressed for national consensus to resolve the present political deadlock. The President made such statement with the ex-lawmakers of the Nepali Congress (NC) who reached the President’s Office demanding resurrection of the dissolved Constituent Assembly to promulgate the constitution by completing the remaining tasks of the constitution writing.
President Yadav also suggested that the lawmakers should exert pressure on political parties for national consensus.
NC central member and ex-lawmaker Dhanraj Gurung said that the President has stressed for unity among the political parties to give an outlet to the country.
“National consensus among all parties is necessary to give an outlet to the problems,” Gurung quoted the President as saying.
“All should abide by decisions taken by parties. I am also ready to move on the same basis,” Gurung further quoted the President as saying.
Some lawmakers of the NC including Gurung, Kamala Panta, Jibanprem Shrestha, Mohan Pandey and others met with the President after collecting four dozen ex-lawmakers’ signatures for resurrection of the dissolved CA.
Meanwhile, the NC ex-lawmakers have also been divided over the issue of meeting with the President regarding the resurrection of the dissolved CA. Ex-lawmakers including Shovakhar Parajuli and others did not show up at the President’s Office, Shital Niwas, after the debate.
Ex-lawmaker Parajuli said, “We should not drag the President into debate unnecessarily. The dissolved CA should be restored through political pressure.” RSS
