Mountaineer Maya Gurung team summits the Jugal mountain range

KATHMANDU: The first ever successful summit to the Jugal mountain range has been made today. The Gyalzen peak in the range and measuring 6,151 meters high was successfully scaled at 5:20 pm by mountaineers Maya Gurung, Sharmila Thapa and Milan Lama, according to Chair of Jugal rural municipality Hom Narayan Shrestha. The peak falls in Gumba village in ward no. 3 of the rural municipality.

Gyalzen peak is one of the 11 peaks that fall under the Jugal mountain range. Of the 11 peaks identified in the mountain range eight are between 6,256 to 6,966 meters high, according to Nepal Tourism Board.
