Most UML members deny participating in Bhattarai government

KATHMANDU Major political parties have expedited internal consultations and parleys in the changed political context following the five-point agreement signed on Thursday night.

A central committee (CC) meeting of the CPN-UML held today ended inconclusively though the CC members discussed party’s roles and steps in the national unity government to be formed under the leader of Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai.

After the meeting, party Secretary Shankar Pokhrel said the meeting took no decision though discussions five-point agreement and party’s leadership in the national unity government were held.

Pokhrel said party’s CC members who expressed their opinions at today’s meeting stressed for joining the national consensus government.

However, some of the leaders have opined that the agreement of forming the national consensus government under the leadership of Dr Baburam Bhattarai was unusual.

During the meeting, party Chairman Jhalanath Khanal gave detail information about the five-point agreement signed by the major political parties. The next CC meeting is summoned at 11:00 am on Saturday.

Similarly, issuing a press statement after the CC meeting, the UML has condemned the Janakpur bomb explosion and paid tribute to those five persons killed in the inhuman incident.

Likewise, the UML said that party’s serious attention was drawn over the indefinite strike and protests being staged in different districts of the far western development region demanding an undivided far-west. RSS
