More than 50,000 people compelled to drink arsenic water

KAWASOTI: As many as 50,000 people in the southern belt of Nawalparasi have been affected by drinking water with arsenic.

They have been affected by the arsenic as they have no alternative to such water for drinking. A large number of population in southern part of Nawalparasi district drink water from tube-well.

According to the Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office, around 15 VDCs including Pratappur, Baidauli, Narsahi, Panchanagar, Rampur Khadauna, Paklihawa, Guthi Prasauni, Ramnagar, Jahada and Jamuniya has excessive level of arsenic in the underground water.

Meanwhile, the local residents have demanded the Office to distribute safe drinking water. Chief of the Division Office, Ram Chandra Kafle, said the office had already demanded for drinking water projects to manage safe drinking water for the areas. RSS
