Morcha threatens to quit govt if 11-province model not rolled back
KATHMANDU: The Unified Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), an alliance of the national unity government that comprises five Madhes-based parties, today has expressed its serious objection to the 11 province-model as agreed by the three major political parties.
The leaders of the Front have also warned of quitting the government and hit the streets if the three major political did not rethink the model of 11 provinces for state restructuring.
The leaders of the Front made such remark at a meeting with the Maoist leadership held today at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.
The leaders of the Front also urged the Prime Minister to correct the decision of 11 provinces made by UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) sans approval of the Front.
During the meeting, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal assured the leaders of the Front to take a decision by holding a meeting soon stating that nothing can happen without consensus among the four forces, said Minister for Population and Health, Rajendra Mahato.
Mahato also a member of the Front said that a meeting of the three major political parties and Front will be held today and decision would be taken on federal provinces. RSS
