Moon’s proposed visit put on hold
KATHMANDU: The proposed visit of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s to Nepal has been deffered to a later date by the government citing lack of preparations highly pacled government sources confirmed.
Ban was slated to visit Nepal on April 28 to co-chaira an international conference on Lumbini development with UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
On request of the Greater Lumbini National Development Directive Committee formed by the Government of Nepal to organize international support for the development of Lumbin area, the Prime Minister had invited Moon to Nepal.
Nepal has declared 2012 the Visit Lumbini Year and planned to project the conference to promote Lumbini internationally as the apostle of peace.
Dahal had invited Ban to visit Nepal while the former was in New York in November in the capacity of coordinator of the High Level National Steering Committee for Lumbini development project. UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova was also slated to accompany Ban on the visit.
