Minister Thapa and UNFPA Executive Director Kanem meet
KATHMANDU: Executive Director of UNFPA, Dr Natalia Kanem, met with Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Thamamaya Thapa, on Sunday.
Also the United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Dr Kanem, has arrived here on Sunday itself on a two-day official visit to Nepal.
During the meeting held at the Women, Children and Senior Citizen Ministry a Singha Durbar, Minister Thapa said that the government has established equitable society and justifiable society.
Saying Nepal has more than half population of women, Minister Thapa said that the government has announced to celebrate 2076 BS as the campaign year against gender based violence.
On the occasion, Executive Director Dr Kanem said that the UNFPA has been carrying out activities with priority by joining hands with government to end gender-based violence and child marriage and added that there are still lots of works to be done in coming days.
Saying they were ready to help the campaign against gender-based violence launched by the government of Nepal, Dr Kanem said that Nepal is symbol of inclusion.
A high-delegation led
The UNFPA high-level delegation is here to recognise the achievements made by Nepal in relation to Cairo vision so far as per its commitment.
