Minister Bhatta assures reforms within NOC

KATHMANDU: Minister for Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta has promised to bring reforms within the debt ridden state monopoly Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC).

Speaking at the inauguration of the 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of National Association of Nepal Petroleum Dealers (NANPD) in the capital on Friday, Minister Bhatta ‘We are working to explore the strengths and end malpractices in the NOC’.

Alluding to the shortage of petro-products in the market, Minister Bhatta promised that the rigorous monitoring mechanism was in the offing and claimed implementation of the mechanism would bring to book all the dealers operating against the prescribed standards of the NOC.
On the occasion, he called on the NANPD to focus on improving their internal problems rather than pointing to the errors made by others.
He even accused the dealers of cheating people in Eastern part of the country and questioned their practices to control such dealers who cheat on the consumers.
The Minister questioned the dealers for failing to ensure smooth supply of available petroleum products to consumers on the occasion.
