Micro-finance conference from Feb 14
KATHMANDU: The Micro Finance Conference is to be held in Kathmandu from February 14-16 with the objective of informing people about the investment of micro finance across the nation, micro finance´s role in poverty alleviation and importance of the micro finance.
Organizing a press conference in the Capital on Sunday Chairperson of the Economic Journalists Society, Pradeep Chapagain, informed that the conference is going to be held for the third time in the country under the slogan ´Socially responsible and sustainable micro finance.´
Centre for Micro Finance-Nepal, Nepal Rastra Bank, Micro-Finance Bankers´ Association, Plan Nepal, Poverty Alleviation Fund, RMDC, Save the Children, Small Farmers´ Bank, Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, among others are jointing organizing the conference where discussion will be held in 43 working papers.
It is expected that some 800 people including policy makers, practitioners, promoters, students, micro-finance experts and representatives of development agencies, NGOs and INGOs, among others, will participate in the conference. According to statistics, around 1.8 million people have been taking direct benefit from different micro finance providing organizations active in the country.
