Mashal flays decision to grant citizenship on descent

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (CPN)-Mashal has flayed the government’s decision to provide  descent based citizenship to children who were born when either of their parents were not Nepalese.

A press release issued by the party on  Friday further objected against the government’s decision to amend the interim constitution for paving way for its move.

The Supreme Court had issued a stay order earlier on the move. However owing to constanCPN Mashal Party Flagt pressure from the Madhesh based parties, the government had decided to go ahead with its earlier decision and even amend the constitution.

Along with that the party also condemned the government’s decision to integrate on bulk basis into Nepal Army and warned that such move could lead the nation into confrontation.

Both issues are part of the four-point agreement signed between the Maoist and Madhes parties prior to the prime ministerial election on August 28. Madheshi parties have warned to pull out of the government if their demands were not addressed.
