Maoist finalize five candidates, Baidya faction boycotts SC meet
KATHMANDU: The ruling UCPN Maoist party has finalized names of its members to participate in the government. A Standing Committee meeting of the party on Friday finalized five minister continue for representing the party in the agreed national unity government.

The dissenting Mohan Baidha faction of the UCPN (Maoist) boycotted the Standing Committee (SC) meet of the party on Friday. The meet was summoned to discuss on the formation of the consensus government.
Maoist Spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma said that Shrestha will given the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Bogati will be given the Energy ministry portfolio.
However the dissident faction of the Maoist headed by Vice Chairman Mohan Baidya remained absent at the meeting expressing its displeasure Thursday’s five point agreement between political parties on power sharing and constitution writing.
The Baidya faction has five members in the committee. Along with finalizing the names of two of its minister, the SC has handed down the responsibility to finalize other names to Prime Minister and Vice Chairman of the party Dr Baburam Bhattarai and the responsibility to resolve disputes in constitution writing process to Chairman Prachanda.
