Maoist, Congress leaders in talks

KATHMANDU:  Top leaders of the Unified CPN (Maoist) and the Nepali Congress have begun talks this morning, aimed at seeking compromise on the contentious issues of the constitution.

The talks are taking place at UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s residence at Lazimpat.

Chairman Dahal, Prime Minister and party vice-chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and other senior leaders of the party from the UCPN (Maoist) side and party president Sushil Koirala, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel, among other top leaders from the Nepali Congress side are taking part in the talks.

The bilateral talks between the UCPN (Maoist) and the Nepali Congress is taking place when the parties are at loggerheads regarding the disputed issues of the constitution as state restructuring, naming of the federal units and their numbers. RSS
