Maoist back to discussion after brawl
KATHMANDU: The closed-door session of the plenum of Unified CPN (Maoist) that was put off amidst dispute has restarted. The session was adjourned after a scuffle ensued when cadres close to party Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal allegedly created disturbance while leader Balaran Saha, supporter of Vice-chairperson and Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, was expressing his views on behalf of Bhojpura State Committee.
Following a controversy on who to present findings as a team leader in the session, it was agreed to allow representatives from both the sides to speak out in turn.
Dispute took a nasty turn when Saha close to Dr. Bhattarai side was speaking amidst the controversy about the presentation of group discussion findings.
The closed-door session of the plenum has resumed when the UCPN (Maoist)’s politburo meeting held following the dispute decided that a meeting of the Bhojpura state committee will fix the name of the speaker from the state committee and agreed to continue the session.
Emerging from the meeting, politburo member Hisila Yami said the politburo meeting has ended the dispute, which she claimed was resulted due to the remains of clash cropped up during People’s War.
She told media that an agreement was made to allow representatives from both the sides to speak out when dispute emerges in the plenum.
Politburo member Shakti Basnet said minor dispute took place in the session and that a rumour of physical attack against one another side was baseless. RSS
