Mainali claims $0.79m compensation with Japanese govt
Govinda Mainali of Ilam who spent 15 years in prison in Japan for the alleged murder of a Japanese woman has lodged a claim with the Japan government, seeking a compensation of 790,000 US Dollars.
Mainali was freed after his acquittal by a Japanese High Court in June and he has been living in Nepal.
According to news carried by the international news agency, AFP, Mainali is also preparing to register another claim for damages, saying he was incarcerated in jail despite his innocence.
