Mahat fears transition could extend
KATHMANDU: Central Committee member of the Nepali Congress Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat has said that the political transition could drag on as the political parties have still not agreed on contentious issues related to the constitution writing.
Speaking in a programme organized in honour of office-bearers of Nepali Writers’ Association here today, he said although the parties have reached an understanding for now, they have still to settle the disputed issues of the constitution.
He urged the writers and intelligentsia to write fair and analytical articles and opinions that could show the way forward during the present political transition.
Another central committee member of the party, Narahari Acharya, said the Nepali Congress is always for freedom of expression while leader Dr. Sashank Koirala called on the writers to express their opinions without fear and inhibitions.
President of the Association, Dr. Tulasi Bhattarai said the Association plans to bring out a book on the literary and political writings by the late BP Koirala. The reception was organised at Dr. Koirala’s residence. RSS
