Loan package to earthquake victims
MANGALBARE, Illam: government has announced a new loan and grant package to people affected by the earthquake that hit the country on September 18, 2011.
As per the loan and grant package, people displaced after their houses were damaged by the quake would be given Rs. 100,000 per person. Similarly, people whose houses have been only partly damaged would be given Rs. 50,000.
Chief of the District Building Construction and Urban Division Office, Suresh Nembang, said the office has also been providing necessary training to the masons and carpenters for producing skilled human resources required for construction of houses and physical infrastructures.
People rendered homeless and living as landless squatters would be provided a grant of Rs. 10,000 per person. Arrangements have also been made for providing soft loans to the affected people.
The temblor had fully destroyed 2,115 houses in Ilam district, causing a loss of approximately Rs. 750 million.
According to the Chief District Officer, Baburam Khatiwada, Rs. 10 million provided by the government as relief assistance to the earthquake affected people has been distributed. RSS
