Life returns to normal after 8 days general strike

JANAKPURDHAM: Life became normal in Mithila region after the Mithila State Struggle Committee postponed its programmes of protest for until coming Saturday.

Local people had been organizing Mithila region banda for the last eight days after an unknown group exploded bomb which killed five and injured dozens of people while they were organizing a peaceful demonstration.

The Committee informed that journalists that they put off the banda when the government and the civil society called on them to sit for talks.

The Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction urged the struggle committee to form a five-member team to sit for dialogue.

Member of the committee, Jiva Nath Chaudhary said they called off the banda and changed the form of the protest. However, Chaudhary said they will hold discussions with the lawmakers and leaders of various political parties so as to draw more support for the Mithila movement.

Meanwhile, the committee is to organize condolence meeting on Saturday on the occasion of the 13th day of demise of the people killed in Janakpur incident. RSS
