Leftist, fringe parties unhappy with CA extension bid
KATHMANDU: A meeting of different leftist and fringe political parties held today has decided that the government decision to extend the CA term against the Supreme Court’s verdict was arbitrary.
Issuing a press statement after the meeting, the leaders have said that the major political parties are misusing the time of the CA by escaping the constitution writing process.
Protesting the fresh move of the government to extend the CA term, they demanded promulgation of new constitution by May 27 and stop ‘conspiracies’ against writing a constitution.
They also demanded to ensure the rights of peasants, workers, squatters, women, dalit, Muslims, minorities, marginalized, and people of backward communities by maintaining the existing multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-religious and regional diversities of the country.
General Secretary of CPN (Masal) Mohan Bikram Singh, General Secretary of Rastriya Janamorcha Santa Bahadur Nepali, central member of CPN (ML) Kapil Pokhrel and others have issued the press statement demanding timely constitution and protesting the government step to extend the CA term yet another time.
