Leaders to conduct discussion till late night today

KATHMANDU: The three major political parties and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), today agreed to make maximum efforts to settle the disputed issues of the constitution writing process.

A meeting of the leaders held at Constituent Assembly building, the leaders agreed to settle the issues even by working round the clock.

Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, said major political parties would forge political consensus on the disputed issues today at any cost saying the major political parties have been doing intensive discussions to this regard.
A taskforce comprised top leaders and their aides of major force has been forged to forge consensus in the disputed issues with an understanding that political consensus was the only alternative to promulgate the new constitution on time, said Vice-president of the Nepali Congress, Ramchandra Paudel.

Chairman of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (Democratic) Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar expressed his confidence that the political parties would reach to conclusion as they have been making extensive discussions. “We will find the solution to the disputed issues by working round the clock, none would escape until positive conclusion was drawn,” he said.

Problems were raised as the leaders of the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) turned irresponsible despite their previous commitment that constitution writing would be completed within 10 days once the peace process was completed, Gachchhadar added.

Likewise UCPN-Maoist leader Hitman Shakya said a meeting to be held this evening will finalize the issues regarding the forms of governance, judicial system, state-restructuring, citizenship and others
