Leaders in Shital Niwas demanding eighth extension of Prez’s deadline
Leaders of the major four political forces- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) – have reached President’s residence Shital Niwas to urge the Head of the State to extend the deadline for the eighth time.
As parties have failed to forge consensus for seventh times which expired yesterday, much-hyped national consensus has remained elusive yet.
Leaders of the opposition and ruling parties have blamed each other for the failure of forging consensus to end the current impasse. The parties have been polarized in recent days as the ruling parties, mainly the Prime Minister, have floated the formation of government under the leadership of the independent person. The opposition parties have said that it was nothing more than political treachery to form the election government under the leadership of independent person. The opposition parties have remained firm on their stance of government formation under the leadership of Congress President Sushil Koirala. However, the ruling parties have casted doubt that the government under Nepali Congress leadership was least possible.
While the parties are still polarized over the formation of national consensus government, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav is likely to extend the deadline yet again following the demand of the parties. Press Aide of the President, Rajendra Dahal, said that the President would extend the deadline since he doesn’t have any constitutional alternative of prolonging the deadline.
