Leaders for conditional CA resurrection

KATHMANDU: Leaders of different political parties and political scientists have said that present political deadlock should be ended by resurrecting the Constituent Assembly (CA) based on political consensus. They opined that the CA resurrection should be conditional.

Speaking at a talk programme organized by ‘Pratibaddha National Tri-monthly, they said that holding the CA elections on November 22 is difficult both legally and practically.

Politburo member of the UCPN (Maoist) Nabraj Subedi said federalism with identity should be the condition for the revival of the CA.

Likewise, Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak said there was no option to forge consensus among the parties adding that reviving the CA was an appropriate alterative to promulgate the constitution through the CA.

Central member of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum, Nepal, Chandika Prasad Yadav said that the parties should forge consensus based on people’s expectations regarding the federalism with identity.

Professor Dr Ram Kumar Dahal and Paribartan Bhattarai said suggested that the parties should forge consensus at any cost to promulgate the constitution with federalism. RSS
