Leader Tamang cremated with state honor
The last rites of Nepali Congress leader Bhim Bahadur Tamang have been performed with state honor at Swayambhu as per Buddhist tradition on Sunday. A Buddhist Lama lit the funeral pyre while Tamang’s son Dipak assisted the Buddhist Lama.
Congress President Sushil Koirala, Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel, General Secretary Prakash Man Singh and other central leaders and cadres as well as a large number of well wishers of Tamang were present to pay their last tributes to Tamang.
Earlier, Tamang’s body was ferried with a funeral rally from NC central office, Sanepa to Swyambhu. Various leaders of the political parties including UCPN (Maoist) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had reached Sanepa to pay their last tribute to the leader Tamang. Koirala has wrapped the Congress flag in the body of Tamang.
Tamang had died of heart attack on Saturday morning. The government had decided to accord the state honour to Tamang.
Meanwhile, Nepal Tamang Association has demanded with the government that the Tamang be declared a national hero of the country.
