Koirala says first consensus government than talks on election

KATHMANDU: President of the Nepali Congress (NC), Sushil Koirala, has pointed out the need of creating an environment of trust among the major political parties for going together at least for the next 10 years.

At a programme organized by the Reporters’ Club at the residence of Koirala at Maharajgunj, today, Koirala said that the UCPN-Maoist has been obstructing the agreement so far by betraying on the implementation of the agreements signed before and creating a gap of distrust among parties.

He further said that there is much difference between the UCPN-Maoist leaders’ saying and doings.

Koirala said that now hundreds of thousands of youths have gone to foreign countries for employment, so there is a challenge to involve them in development works of the country by creating employment in the country itself, and added that the country should freed from political and constitutional crisis at the earliest by forging consensus among political parties for the same.

Koirala objected to the saying of the UCPN-Maoist that the NC was not in favour of federalism, and claimed that NC will give an outlet to the country’s current crisis. He added that a national consensus government led by the NC will resolve the current political and constitutional crisis.

He blamed the UCPN-Maoist for trying to create differences between Nepali Congress leaders by urging to declare the name for the leadership of the next government and added that if there is consensus on other issues, the NC working committee will finalize name within half an hour.  But for this, the government is an obstruction and it should pave way for it, he added.

Koirala said the incumbent government has been working against laws by forgetting its status of caretaker government and his party’s working committee will decide what path to take next.

President Koirala said dillydallying was made by not calling the meeting of the Special Committee for long by the government as it should be finalized on the issue of army integration, adding that issues like new date for election, amendment of election laws and constitution and fulfillment of constitutional body officials should be done   on consensus.
