Koirala says consensus can only deliver the nation out of crisis

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has said the present political crisis could be resolved through consensus, cooperation and collaboration.

At a programme organized by Nepal Women’s Association on the occasion of the 89th birth anniversary of Girija Prasad Koirala in the capital on Sunday, President Koirala reminded that the late GP Koirala brought the then rebellion Maoist party into the ambit of cooperation, consensus and collaboration.

There was no alternative to all-party consensus to resolve the present political crisis, he said.

On the occasion, central member Bhim Bahadur Tamang said the Nepali Congress was in need of bringing new programmes in the interest of indigenous, women and the backward communities.

Another central member Sujata Koirala pointed out the need of prioritizing the inclusion of women in the party and state bodies.

Similarly, central member Badri Pande said the Nepali Congress should emerge stronger to defeat authoritarian forces.

At the programme, President Koirala honoured Sharada Dahal for her special contribution to the party and women association. RSS
