Koirala reiterates first peace than constitution
He expressed this view in an interaction with locals after observing the Majar of the Muslim saint, Gadalibaba, at Dhamaura in Mahottari district today.
The NC president stated that the new constitution would institutionalize the democratic republic.
He accused the UCPN (Maoist) of unnecessarily delaying the peace process on petty issues just when the people are upbeat about the successful conclusion of the peace process.
The Nepali Congress president declared that nobody could prevent the declaration of the new constitution on May 27, as there was no alternative to peace and constitution.
On the occasion, Koirala paid respect to the Gadalibaba at the Mazar by offering a shawl.
Meanwhile some NC leaders have claimed that the party is attempting to topple the government. Central member of the party Gopal Man Shrestha and Gagan Thapa said that the main campaign of the party at present was for peace and constitution. So, efforts would be made to materialize the campaign, he added.
Both leaders were addressing a mass meeting organized by Lalitpur district working committee of the party at Lagankhel on Tuesday.
Both expressed confidence that the new constitution would be promulgated within the time frame by concluding the peace process.
