KMC’s broader jurisdiction must to expedite works: Deputy Mayor Khadgi
KATHMANDU: Amidst plenty of grievances from the general public about the poor daily services and delayed development activities in the Kathmandu Valley, Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (MKC) Hari Prabha Khadgi Shrestha has asserted that various government bodies looking after road, drinking water, power supply and telecommunications need to be brought under KMC jurisdiction so that the delayed development activities would be expedited.
Deputy Mayor Khadgi said once the KMC brings under its control the road department, electricity authority, drinking water supply, Nepal Telecom, it could better coordinate on the development activities.
During a programme organized by Reporters’ Club here today, Khadgi said as the above bodies were not working in coordination, problems emerged creating inconvenience to the public service.
“For lack of coordination, some of the structures created by the KMC were demolished and different government bodies blame each other. Citizens need to be aware of it, “she underscored.
According to her, the Kathmanduities had to face dusty streets owing to the laying of Melamchi drinking water pipe. So, after this task is over, the dust would fizzle out, she informed.
Khadgi further said Bancharedanda would be developed as permanent landfill site for the sustainable management of garbage from the Kathmandu Valley. RSS
