Solidarity And Concern Regarding KC’s Hunger Strike

KATHMANDU: Hundreds of students, professionals and general public gathered at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital to express solidarity with the campaign of Dr Govinda KC to end political meddling in medical institutions. The participants who started gathering from 8 am today also demanded the authorities to save the life of agitating Dr KC who has been staging fast-unto-death for the past nine days.
Meanwhile, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday visited Dr Gobinda KC. On the visit he told KC that he is highly inspired by his determination and it should inspire everyone from his altruism. Chairman Dahal said he would urge the Prime Minister to address the demands. He expressed the solidarity to doctor KC strike from the behalf of his whole party as it is for eliminating corruption.
The health condition of Dr. Govinda KC, who is on a fast unto death since the last 9 days demanding reforms in the medical education in Nepal, has reached a critical condition.
A doctor who is involved in monitoring Dr KC’s health in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, stated that he should be transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) immediately to save his life.
