Kanchanpur strike called off

KANCHANPUR: Indefinite Kanchanpur district strike called by different political parties and organizations demanding ‘indivisible far-west’ has been called off from today.

The strike was called to protest the UCPN (Maoist) proposal of 10 provinces on state-restructuring.

The agitating sides have said that they would prepare agendas for further programmes by holding discussions with the indigenous and Tharu communities.

Issuing a join press statement today, the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), CPN (ML) and other parties active in the district including civil society have said that the strike was postponed to prepare common agendas after organizing a round table conference with the stakeholders.

Life in the district has returned to normalcy after the postponement of the strike. RSS
