JDMF closes Terai region again
BIRATNAGAR: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has announced a two-day Tarai bandh beginning today, calling for establishing an autonomous single Madhes province.
Industries, factories, market and the business establishments here are closed due to the bandh. Similarly, public transport vehicles are not operating.
However, the ongoing Grade 11 examination under the Higher Secondary Board is going ahead without any hindrance, police said. The bandh organisers have allowed ambulances, press vehicles, rickshaws and motorcycles to ply.
Police said no untoward incident has taken place in course of the shutdown till the morning. Security personnel have been deployed at major cross-roads of the town.
A series of day-to-day bandhs enforced by different organisations and parties have crippled the life in the east region.
