Its Saune Sakranti and Devotees across the nation observed it

CHITWAN: Devotees have thronged the Devghatdham, a religious site in Chitwan, to observe the Saune Sankranti also known as the Karkat Sankranti today.

The first day of the month of Saun in the Nepali calendar is marked as the Saune Sankranti.

the environment   of the site has been more exciting  also because of the Bolbam fair that began from today.

The Bolbam fair is observed especially on Mondays in the month of Saun. Devotees clad on yellow cloths have gathered here since Sunday to observe the fair.

Devghatdham is located at the convergence of three districts- Chitwan, Tanahun and Nawalparasi. People from India also have gathered at the site to observe the fair, said a local Buddhisagar Neupane.

It is believed that wishes of devotees get fulfilled if they worship the Lord Shiva with holy water collected from a river at the site and leaves of Bel, a holy tree.

The Bolbam fair is marked on all the five Mondays in the month of Saun. Hindu married women observe the fasting wishing for long life of their husbands and family prosperity and happiness in the families. Similarly, unmarried women observe fasting wishing for a good life partner. RSS
