Interim order to stop cruel transportation of animals
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court today has issued an interim order in the name of the government, asking it to stop transportation of animals in a cruel and inhumane manner.
The order was issued by the single bench of Justice Iswar Prasad Khatiwada in response to a writ filed by advocates Padam Bahadur Shrestha and Shatakona Shrestha on July 29. The petitioners had also called for implementation of the provisions in the Animal Transportation Standards, 2064 B.S.
The court has summoned the petitioners and the defendants for deliberations on August 19.
