Indian envoy confers with Maoist Chief
KATHMANDU: Indian ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad held talks with UCPN Maoist chairman Puspa Kama Dahal. The talks were centered on the recent political developments in Nepal and ongoing political impasse informed sources near Dahal.
During the meeting held at the Maoist head office, Prasad had inquired about the progress made in resolving disputed issues of the new constitution, and efforts made to form national consensus government.
In response Dahal informed Prasad that discussions were underway to resolve political impasse and added that parties would be sitting for joint discussions to figure out way out of the status quo.
On the occasion, Dahal also conveyed his congratulations to the newly elected 13th President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.
Party’s foreign affairs department chief Krishna Bahadur Mahara was also present in the meeting.
