India clinches SAF U-15 Championship title

KATHMANDU: India has defeated Nepal to clinch the U-15 Championship title of the fifth edition of SAF football tournament. India outshined Nepal 7-0 in the final match held at Kalyani Stadium in Kolkata, India today.
Nepal has not yet seized the title in the U-15 category despite reaching the final for three times. Earlier, Nepal was defeated by India in 2013 and 2017 in the final match.
In the match today, India netted three goals in the first half and four goals in second half. Mahasen Singh scored the first goal in the 15th minute to take India ahead. Mandeep then doubled the goal score in the 41th minute while Shivajeet Singh added another to take India to a 3-0 lead in the first half.
Likewise, Indian strikers Taisan Singh, Himanshu Jangara and Siddhartha Nongmeikpam contributed four goals in the second half to ensure its robust win.
Earlier, India had relegated Nepal with 5-0 in the first match of the tournament. Nepal made it place in the final after beating Bhutan 6-0.
Host India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan had participated in the regional tournament.

Three people hurt in rhino attack
KAILALI: Three people were injured due to attack by rhinocerous at Ranipur of Barbardiya municipality this morning.
A rhino that came from the Ranipur jungle attacked the people who had gathered at local Kusumbaghat to watch a newly constructed suspension bridge at the site.
The health condition of two out of the three victims is said to be serious and they have been taken to the Teaching Hospital at Kohalpur of Banke for advanced treatment, police said.
Those injured in the rhino attack are 39-year-old Ram Prasad Tharu of Barbardiya municipality-4, and 65-year-old Jangali Tharu and 10-year-old Shikha Tharu of ward number 5 of the same municipality. Jangali and Shikha are in serious condition, superintendent of police Rajesh Nath Bastola said.
