House panel approves West Seti Hydropower deal
Kathmandu, April 1: The Natural Resources Committee of the Legislature-Parliament has directed the government to take ahead the West Seti Hydro Power Project, correcting the mistakes in the agreement signed for it.
The meeting of Committee at Sigha Durbar on Sunday instructed the government to initiate the Project-related construction works in line with the agreement reached between the Energy Ministry and the Chinese Three Gorges International company.
As per the agreement, the Project has to be completed by 2019.
The meeting has directed the government to bring the deal into the jurisdiction of the Investment Board and carryout necessary amendments to it in pursuance to the Board Act.
Besides, the government has been told to move forward the Project with top priority, considering the needs and aspirations of the people in the far-western region, necessity of promoting foreign investment and bilateral relations existing between Nepal and China.
The meeting has given various 13 suggestions to the government regarding the construction of the Project. RSS
