Home Minister Thapa directs chiefs of security bodies to further strengthen security

KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs, Ram Bahadur Thapa, has directed chiefs of the security bodies and chief district officers to further strengthen security system of the nation including Kathmandu Valley.

At an emergency meeting held at the Home Ministry after explosion at two different places of Kathmandu today, Home Minister Thapa directed the chiefs of the security bodies to carry out deep investigation into the incidents and to further strengthen security system, according to the Home Ministry.

Home Secretary Prem Kumar Rai, Inspector General of the Nepal Police, Sarvendra Khanal, Chief of Armed Police Force Nepal, Sailendra Khanal, Chief of National Investigation Department, Ganesh Adhikari, and chief district officers of three districts of Kathmandu Valley were present in the meeting.

Representatives of security bodies had briefed Home Minister Thapa about the details of the deceased and injured as well as condition of incident sites in the meeting.

Two injured in bomb explosion at Nagdhunga, NA defuses bomb planted at Lagankhel
KATHMANDU: Bombs have been found at Nagdhunga of Kathmandu and Lagankhel of Lalitpur Sunday evening.

Two persons have been injured when the bomb planted near brick kiln of Nagdhunga went off, according to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Thankot.

Of the injured, identity of a single person has been ascertained. He is Buddha Lama, said Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Police Circle, Kumar Bikram Thapa. Lama, who has sustained injuries on his back, has been rushed to Bir Hospital while another injured is undergoing treatment Martyr’s Memorial Hospital.

Similarly, a pressure cooker bomb has been found at Lagankhel bus park. Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, Apil Kumar Bohara said that the bomb disposal team of the Nepal Army defused the bomb.
