High ranking US official visiting Nepal on Monday

KATHMANDU: A high ranking U.S. official is arriving Nepal tomorrow to take stock of the status of the ongoing peace process and constitution writing.

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Dr Alyssa Ayres is arriving on a five-day official visit to Nepal tomorrow.

In course of her visit here, the U.S. high official will separately call on the President, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs. She is also scheduled to meet separately with the top leaders of the major political parties, senior government officials and civil society leaders

Spokesperson at the U.S. Embassy, Kathmandu, Terry White confirmed Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Ayres’ visit but said did not know clearly about the schedule of her meetings.

Ayres assumed office two years back and she has been looking after India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Maldives affairs at the U.S. Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. RSS
