Gajuri locals call for special programs to reduce road mishaps

DHADING: Concerned stakeholders have demanded that special programmes be introduced in Dhading district to reduce number of road accidents along the Prithvi Highway.

Various speakers stressed on the need to launch awareness raising drive on highway safety at local level, saying that the derelict condition of the road is the main reason behind the highway mishaps.

At a programme organized at Gajuri of Dhading, representatives from the government and non-government organizations in Dhading district discussed the ways to make the Prithvi Highway free from road mishaps.

Ratio of road accident has increased compared to the previous years owing to ignorance on the part of Department of Roads in the timely maintenance and failure to avert road encroachment.

A study carried out by District Trafic Police Office and KOSOK Nepal Dhading revealed that the road accidents are mostly occurred during the time period from 6 pm in the evening to 6 am in the morning.

Likewise, transport entrepreneurs have to provide more compensation in the accidents that took place in Dhading district compared to the road mishaps in other districts, according to a study. RSS
