Fringe parties flay citizenship agreement

KATHMANDU: 19 fringe parties representing in the Constituent Assembly (CA) on Tuesday have flayed the agreement between the government and the Madhesh based parties on providing citizenship to children, who were born before either of their parent acquired Nepal’s citizenship.

A meeting of these parties convened in the capital on Tuesday morning demanded that a high level commission be formed to review the issue and for providing appropriate recommendations.

Along with that a joint statement released by them on the occasion has accused the major political parties of obliterating the peace and constitution writing process by being power centric.

They have demanded for escalating both process and to deliver the new constitution within the stipulated time frame and warned to go on agitation if they failed to do so.
