FRDA decides to continue alliance for CA elections
KATHMANDU: As the four major political parties have decided to go for the elections of the constituent assembly after forming the Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi led election government, the Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA) led by UCPN-Maoist has decided to continue the alliance until the next Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.
UCPN-Maoist Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal put forth the proposal to continue the alliance in the first meeting of the alliance held Maoist headquarters in Paris Danda on Sunday after the change of government leadership.
“The party chairman has proposed going for the elections by keeping the alliance intact as it was formed to push for certain issues,” said a Maoist leader.
The alliance formed during their tenure in the government has also decided to put pressure on the government to hold elections by mid July. The meeting also discussed the appointment of officials in the constitutional bodies.
The high-level political committee, led by UCPN-Maoist Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has already decided to make appointments in the constitutional bodies on Monday and proposed to schedule the elections for June 18.
The ordinance sent for the appointments in the constitutional bodies has already been approved by President Ram Baran Yadav
