Football promoting fraternity: PM

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that the AFC Challenge Cup has been promoting fraternity among the various countries in the region.

Inaugurating the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) challenge cup at local Dasarath Stadium on Thursday, Dr Bhattarai said the AFC cup in Nepal was an historical event in the country.

On the occasion, President of Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), Sepp Blatter said the future of football in Nepal was very bright.

Also present at the inaugural ceremony were Chairman of Constituent Assembly, Subas Nembang, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Minister for Sports, Kamala Rokka, Member-Secretary of National Sports Council Yubaraj Lama.
