Five arrested in kidney smuggling in Nepal
KATHMANDU: Nepal Police on Wednesday arrested five persons on the charge of their involvement in kidney smuggling and transplant at Nidan Hospital, Lalitpur.
The Human Organ Smuggling Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police arrested them on the charge of their involvement in kidney smuggling, without disclosing the name of kidney donor.
The arrested are Bipendra Pradhan and Dr Rajesh Panta of Kathmandu, Ram Chandra Ale of Lalitpur, Kumud Kumar Bhattarai of Kanchanpur and Shankar Lal Lama of Ramechhap.
Bureau Spokesperson Govinda Thapaliya said that police arrested them while acting on a tip-off that kidney was smuggled and transplanted at Nidan Hospital by creating a fake name.
