Fishing banned in Syarpu Lake

RUKUM: An all-side meeting held here recently has decided to ban individual in catching fish in the Syarpu Lake at Banfikot VDC. A pro-poor fishery programme has been initiated in the Syarpu lake with the financial assistance of United Mission to Nepal (UMN), Rukum Cluster. The programme is being facilitated by Nepal Janajagaran Munch.

The meeting attended by locals of Banflikot, ward numbers, 2, 3, 7 and 8 has also decided to not allow the use of hooks and nets to catch fish in the Lake.

It is learnt that fish-keeping in the Syarpu Lake has been a good source of income for the locals. RSS
