First step down than talk for consensus: Thapa to BRB

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has urged former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa to garner consensus to form national unity government in his leadership.

Bhattarai made such a request during his interaction Thapa on Thursday at the latters residence. Sources near Thapa claimed that the PM hinted at not stepping down, as demanded by opposition parties who have started to launch salvo against him.

While Bhattarai said that he will step down after consensus is garnered, Thapa is said to have advised the PM to step down and pave way for garnering consensus.

In response to Bhattarai’s stress on holding CA elections, Thapa said that the elections were not possible by November.
