Extra-marital relationship forced four to jump in Chameliya River: Police

DARCHULA: Preliminary police investigations have hinted that the  drowning of four persons into the Chameliya River might have be a case of attempted suicide  committed in fear of being exposed of having extra marital relationship.

Parbati Bhatta (22), her sons Sunil (5) and two-and-half-year old Anil and her brother’s daughter Sarita of Ranishikhar VDC had jumped into the river  on Friday and police investigation into the incident so far has revealed that it was an en masse suicide.

Tulasi Bhatta has claimed that her neighbor Parbati and Sarita had illicit relationships with a local trader Dhanjit Thagunna and has claimed that they might committed suicide fearing that she will expose their illicit relationship informed Inspector Shyam Bahadur Saud.

Tulasi had informed the police about the incident and has even accused the deceased, Parbati and Sarita, of assisting Thaguna in raping her at their house where she was called by the deceased claiming she was alone.

Saud further added that Tulasi has claimed that Parbati and Sarita had made Thaguna rape her to silence her from exposing their relationship to the world.

Presently Tulasi in police custody and medical examination has substantiated her claim.  Saud said that Tulasi privy parts had blood stains and she has scars and bruises in her body.

Parbati’s husband works in India and Saud said that he is on his way home.

Bodies of the decease Parbati, Sarita and Sunil have been recovered on Saturday while that of Anil is still missing. Police claimed that Dhanjit has been on the run since the event and police has intensified search for the accused.
