Ex-rebels decide to be flexible while integrating combatants
KATHMANDU: The informal meeting of the UCPN-Maoist standing committee on Sunday decided to exhibit maximum flexibility on army integration, according to Spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma.
Spokesperson Sharma said the meeting held to discuss the disputed issues of army integration and constitution writing concluded that the party would act honestly on army integration in order to conclude this by April 12 and requested the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML not to create any obstruction.
The meeting held with party’s PLA commanders decided to be flexible on rank harmonization and process, another standing committee member Barsha Man Pun said, adding that they also decided to hold discussion with other parties to be serious on both issues of army integration and constitution.
However, the Maoist has not made clear how it would emerge flexible though said it would be flexible on army integration.
Following the meeting, party vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the contentious issues would be sorted out holding discussion with other parties.
Meanwhile, chief of the Maoist fighters, Nanda Kishor Pun said the army integration was becoming knotty issues after some parties were against the integration.
He said, “Party would hold talks with Nepali Congress and UML on the process of integration, rank harmonization, bridge course, and training.” RSS
