Ex-Gurkha soldier dies in Britain from Covid-19
LONDON: Ex-Gurkha soldier has been confirmed dead in the United Kingdom due to an infection with the Corona virus (Covid-19).
Sixty Six years old Ex Gurkha soldier Lila Bahadur Rai has been confirmed dead.
He was living in the town of Haryo, about 3 km north-west of London with his family.
His death occurred at Northwick Park Hospital in London at around 7pm on Tuesday (March 3), Jayalakshmi Rai, a resident of Haryana, told media.
Lila Bahadur relocated to the Itahari of Sunsari and later to the United States in the 8th after retiring from the British-Gurkha military service.
He had a kidney transplant two years ago, suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. Rai, who returned from the hospital only a few days ago, had a sudden fall at around 4 pm on Tuesday.
Later, his son Bikash and daughter-in-law Rashna were rushed to the hospital and doctors declared him dead at 8 pm.
The hospital reported Friday that the death was due to Covid-19.
Currently, all of the family including Lila Bahadur Rai’s wife are kept in isolation.
