Dr. Karki appointed Maryland Governor’s Commission
BALTIMORE: Dr. Shyam Karki, a senior Nepali American medical practitioner in east coast, has been appointed to the Governor’s Commission on South Asian Affairs in Maryland for his lifetime service to the South Asian American Community.
His appointment to this post comes as recognition of Nepali American Community’s contribution to the State of Maryland and to the increasing role of Nepali Americans in all spheres of life in the state.
Nepali Americans have over the years distinguished themselves in every sector including business, academia, service, social culture.
“I feel very humbled by this honor. I am very thankful and grateful to all my community friends for giving me opportunity to work together for the greater good of our community,” Dr. Karki said after his appointment.
Along with his professional career, Dr. Karki is also a renowned social activist in the Nepali American Community. He is one of the founding fathers of Nepali organizations in America and has been involved with other social cultural activities of the community for decades.
Dr. Karki has served as founder vice president of NRNA International Coordination Council, founder of Nepali American Council (NAC) and other numerous cultural organizations.
