Dr. Bhagawan Koirala becomes Good Manager and Regulating Officer of the Year
KATHMANDU: Dr Bhagwan Koirala, who recently resigned from the post of executive director of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, has been selected as ´Good Manager and Regulating Officer of the Year´ by different organizations working for the protection of Consumer Rights.
The award will be conferred on the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day on March 15. The forum made the announcement during a press meet organized in the Capital on Tuesday.
Speaking at the Program, consumer rights activists have demanded that the government control artificial price hike and end anomalies in the market. They also asked the government to intensify market monitoring and uphold consumer rights.
“Prices of commodities and services have been raised in an artificial manner. Unfortunately, the government doing nothing to control this,” says Jyoti Baniya, general secretary of Forum for Protection of Consumer Rights-Nepal.
Different organizations working in consumer rights movement have planned a three-day celebration to mark the day.
Similarly, a daylong interaction program on consumer rights will be held on Thursday. The organizations are also taking out a morning procession and a formal program to mark the World Consumer Rights Day on Friday. They have prepared different slogans like ´control artificial price hike´, ´issue consumer protection act´, ´appoint monitoring officer in all districts´, and ´develop consumer protection fund´ among others to celebrate the day.
